Magellan Meridian Marine GPS

Magellan Meridian Marine GPS, a rugged handheld unit is one of the newer additions to Magellan's GPS receiver line. It is designed to coordinate data from 12 satellites to guide you on the shortest and safest possible route to your target location.

Effective navigation is important to the safety of your travels. Keeping on course at all times is as important as checking every part of your vehicle, making sure that nothing will mess up and cause you to be stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Either on land or on sea, this gadget gives you the kind of navigation tools that you need to be anywhere, safe and on time. Pinpointing locations anywhere on the globe will never be a problem with this new Magellan handheld GPS offering.

The new Magellan Meridian Marine GPS includes a 16 MB map that gives you a detailed view of US marine navaids, including those fixed navaids, buoys, obstructions, lighthouses and wrecks. Originally made for on-sea navigation, this device is given a slide in data card to store more information and provide you with more comprehensive details of your target location.

This model's factory memory specification can store 500 waypoints, 20 reversible routes, and 30 legs. It comes with a helix antenna to establish the best satellite reception signal and make fast changes or adjustments to your position or location.

Conveniently, Magellan's Meridian Marine model is made PC compatible so you can store all of your trip's details to your home computer and load or unload them to the device when necessary.

Just like any other competitive handheld GPS model, the versatility of this device covers WAAS and EGNOS capability, which is offered in English, French, Dutch, Finnish, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Swedish languages. To give more, the Meridian Marine is designed to be compatible with Magellan's MapSend software, which enables it to display MapSend streets of Europe and more of the Topo features recently released for United States maps.

How exactly does this device track exact positions and location? The answer to this question lies in the 7 navigation screens and profile graphs, which show elevations on the route you have taken. It even provides an oversized grayscale display that makes it convenient for you to see and look at the details and information about your target location.

As it comes with a backlight as well as backlit keypad, it conveniently remains visible and operable even in the dark.

Since Magellan Meridian Marine GPS is originally intended as a sailor's companion, it takes a rugged ergonomic design. While it is nice to touch, it is shaped and formed to be easy on the hands, fitting its buttons nicely up front with dedicated zoom buttons for the maps, eliminating the usually bothersome hidden back buttons. With everything made grippy, it eliminates water as a problem to its operation as it is made splash proof and water proof.

With all these reliable and effective features you get the kind of adventure that you wanted, minus the fuss and anxiety of getting lost along the way. Unlike other GPS models, Magellan Meridian Marine GPS gives you better value for your money by giving everything you can ask for a handheld GPS, simple as that.
