Magellan Meridian Gold GPS
Taking the Right Route

Magellan Meridian Gold GPS gets marketing and popularity leverage by introducing a variety of navigation features that makes GPS applications a breeze to use.

It shows you where you are with its new cursor mode, which enables you to scroll through the sections of the electronic map it displays, making it easier for you to determine the best route to take to get to your target location.

If you are in need of direction and coordinates, you can take advantage of its compass screen feature and easy to understand position screens, which are geared to accurately calculate and display your current longitude and latitude location. In addition to that, it also provides you with more of the classic Magellan handheld GPS features such as road, route data, speedometer and satellite status screens.

Overall, this unit allows you to gather all the information you need to get home, locate waypoints and navigate across any location in the world.

Magellan Meridian Gold GPS comes PC compatible to allow you to store, update and manage all the information it carries. It even allows you to unload and upload the maps and route information that you have used in the past, whenever necessary.

Its factory memory specification states that it can store up to 500 waypoints and 20 reversible routes with up to 30 legs. To establish clear and strong signals to support its WAAS and EGNOS capability, it is given a quadrifilar helix antenna. Its wider language selections add up to its versatile features.

Magellan Meridian Gold GPS is the prime competitor of other GPS models like Garmin GPSmap 76 and eMap. However, compared to the two models, Meridian Gold gets ahead with its substantial hardware improvements. For instance, it can safely be submersed under water for up to 30 minutes and it conveniently floats.

When it comes to mapping applications, Magellan Gold gives you an advanced mapping receiver and a full-featured 16 MB basemap, when its competitors fall flat with their 2 to 8 MB capacity. With that, this model can better show worldwide political boundaries, US highways, cities, waterways, major roads, national parks, and railways.

It even has a memory card slot to give you an additional 8 to 128 megabyte of flash SD memory, enabling it to upload or store more details, street maps, routes, and waypoints from Magellan's new MapSend Streets CD-ROM and web-based applications.

Now let's talk about Magellan Meridian Gold GPS' many features, which competition models do not have. First, it boasts waypoints, an adjustable track log time intervals, tracks, points of interest and topo lines, individual features that can be globally switched on and off. This way, its new cursor mode makes it easier to calculate and display the addresses, waypoints, highways, cities, parks and other landmarks that you are looking for or nearest to your location. It even has an arrival alarm, which can be set to sound off whenever you are 100 feet to 1 mile away from your destination.

When it comes to tracks and trackbacks, it carries up to 2,000 points of walking tracklogs, which is fairly good. It conveniently leads you to the first or next trackback point to keep you from cluttering up your GPS screen. It also features some new and improved MapSend DirectRoute maps, which simply give you more accurate maps, to complement the device's accurate routing capability.

Overall, Magellan Meridian Gold GPS gives you the advantage of a plug in map memory and high quality base maps and navigation features, all at an attractive price.
