GPS Handheld Navigation System

Being portable definitely has its own advantages. Take the case of a GPS handheld navigation system. In giving you a complete and accurate digital global positioning and navigation system, wandering aimlessly through any street, city or country will be a thing of the past.

Aside from driving, a portable handheld GPS keeps anyone from getting lost in the woods or on the sea.

Its effective navigation and routing schemes allow you to always find your way back, especially during emergency situations. Compared to relying on old fashioned compass and maps, hiking, driving, sailing and traveling with a GPS handheld navigation system allows you to explore new routes, track old routes and re-trace your way back home.

One thing about GPS handheld navigation system is that it is small enough to not be a bother. Packing it along with your luggage or camping backpacks will never be a fuss. It can slip in anywhere. You can even carry it on your jacket just like your cell phone.

Having the knowledge that the unthinkable can happen while you spend time outdoors, a portable GPS makes every trip safer and more secure. It is easy to use as it is handy. In the event of emergencies, you can always rely on this device to point you to the direction where you can get immediate help. Think of a GPS handheld receiver as your remote control to safety.

A portable GPS device is so easy to use. First, press on its power button and wait for its screen to activate. Use its arrow pad to point to your current location. Press the enter button. Next, select the correct country or state then press enter.

Now if you want to save or mark your current location on its electronic map, simply press its mark key. The device will prompt you to enter a name or accept its generated name for your landmark. Make use of the arrows to set your location and then press on the enter key to accept your current location information into the device's memory.

Now, if you wanted to calculate the distance and travel time towards reaching a particular place, simply press the Go key from any screen. Use the arrow pad to point to the desired landmark or to select your destination then press enter or the Nav key. As the position screen appears, use the arrow pad to navigate the page. The steps may differ from one handheld GPS to another but the procedure is generally easy to follow.

The number and variety of GPS handheld navigation system brands and models only show that people have already embraced the practicality of portable GPS into the safety and security aspects of their outdoor travels and activities. For a pocket-size device, it carries loads of valuable information that is useful in finding your way out in the woods, in the streets or in unfamiliar territories. In many ways, it can even help save lives in making people easy to locate out in the woods, on the sea, in the sky and anywhere a person can be.
