Get to Know Your
GPS Cell Phones

As more cell phones incorporate GPS applications, GPS cell phones will soon play toe to toe in the popularity race among GPS devices. Built-in GPS receiving capability has become a common feature of American cell phones. With this feature, people can now easily tell their friends and loved ones their exact location, which is useful in the event of emergencies.

When multi-media capabilities such as camera, mp3, and video storage and display have become a usual attribute of mobile phones, GPS technology only made them smarter and more practical. With the right software and service package, GPS cell phones can also give you the services offered by conventional GPS receivers and more.

Even when you haven't bought yourself a GPS receiver, you can easily determine your exact location. In addition you can get directions to your destination, perform calculations of distances between your location and a nearby point of interest, like newly opened roads, restaurants or gas stations. You can also keep in tabs with the local traffic and weather reports while still being able to take all-important calls.

GPS cell phones also add more fun and convenience to your commuting and communication experiences. It presents a convenient location tracking solution for employers who need to track their employee's location as they do off-site jobs.

It even provides outdoor location services, depending on the GPS applications supported by their service providers. Even with information and advertising campaigns, GPS-enabled cell phones support location-based services like local traffic and news updates, advertisements, coupons and more.

However, just like any other GPS device, people are skeptical about GPS phone applications due to signal concerns. Technically, a cell phone is a sophisticated form of two-way radio. It uses and receives signals from the towers and base stations of their mobile service providers. These signal sources are usually arranged into a network of cells, making it easy for cell phones to send and manage radio signals.

Using low-power transmitters, cell phones allow people to communicate. Signal problems only happen when you are traveling and moving from one edge of transmission tower to another makes it challenging to establish strong signals to perform GPS applications.

In this light, GPS-enabled cell phones are designed to maintain stable transmission and reception of signals via Bluetooth and other high-tech means of signal applications. When they are configured to understand Java and other programming languages, they become well able to provide turn-by-turn directions via wireless Internet receptions. This way, other GPS-enabled phones can easily communicate with other GPS-enabled cell phones, sharing current location, enjoying calling plan that facilitate transmission of maps and other GPS data and other GPS applications.

Whenever you hear "GPS" the first thing that comes to mind is that electronic gadget that you stick on your dash to give you turn by turn directions on how to get to your target location.

However, while GPS cell phones are still in the process of winning the confidence and trust of its target market, it certainly makes a wise investment that serves the security, safety, and convenience of mobile phone users.

It makes it easy for you to report your exact location during emergencies. It keeps you from wasting time being stuck as traffic as it will guide you on taking the shortest route towards your destination. It even resolved holiday shopping queries by giving you the updates on the latest sales and store openings. Clearly, GPS cell phones will convince you that there is still more to enjoy with your mobile phone experience.
