Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS

The Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS is one of the latest additions to Garmin's fine selection of GPS receivers. Attractive in its thin profile, it is cut out to be one of the sleekest touchscreen GPS models, which are currently making rave reviews in the market.

Similar to all Nuvi's, the 200W GPS gives you reliable Garmin GPS features, fast satellite lock, high-sensitivity integrated receiver, and a highly detailed map. Designed with the ultimate pocket navigator in mind. This model is designed to handle up to 6 million points of interests, which makes it an essential traveling, driving, and hiking tool.

Features

Nuvi 200W is given a 4.3-inch backlit widescreen display that provides 70% more actual screen area than the conventional 3.5-inch GPS models. This is done to enhance view of the area or map location that you are driving. This increased display area feature also makes it easier for you to pick out parks, restaurants, gas stations, and ATM machines while you are on the road.

The bigger screen also enables you to determine detours with your maps. Automatic dragging, scrolling, and zooming of maps are easiest with its touch screen features. Lastly, its bigger screen makes it easier to push its control buttons.

Designed as a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS is cut out for extreme accuracy. It is also given an SD card slot for storing your media and navigation tools. It even has a USB interface, which makes it more convenient to load data and maps to and from your computer.

To support more of its pertinent navigation features, it is made to run on lithium-ion battery, which has a standing life of five hours, depending on the use.

To provide you with first-rate map data, Nuvi 200W comes preloaded with City Navigator BT street maps for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Given a hefty database to handle millions of points of interests, this device makes it convenient for you to search areas by name and category. It even accepts custom points of interests such as school zones and safety cameras, which allows you to set proximity alerts for upcoming points.

All you need to do is touch the color screen and enter your destination. With Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS outstanding GPS features, it will take you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. One thing about Garmin is that it takes map data from NAVTEQ, the world's leader in premium-quality mapping.

To secure all your data and navigation notes, this model is given Garmin's patent pending theft prevention system, which enables the unit to impede any mode of performance until the user types-in his 4-digit PIN or takes the device to a predetermined secure location.

Pros and Cons

The key to it's success would be its interface as it is a pleasure to use. Its simple control and sub-screen make it easier to search and input destinations and record the data about your trip. In addition to the bigger and brighter display, Nuvi 200W is sporting a sleek body that makes it easy to carry or mount in the car.

Of course, Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS also has some limitations. It does not have an advanced planning function, multiple destination routing and detour functions. However, it gets you some added useful features such as calculator, currency converter, picture viewer, unit converter, and world clock.
