Garmin GPS Mounts

Garmin GPS mounts cover aerial, land and nautical navigation applications. Your GPS need to be mounted securely to make it visible, readable and easy to use while your vehicle is in motion.

When you are driving, a good mounting support is important to keep your focus on the road. There are a variety of Garmin GPS models available in the market today, as well as a variety of mounting kits and designs to complement your driving pleasure.

With all the vehicular GPS units, whether cars, boats, planes or motorcycles, these devices have only one thing in common. That is the GPS mount. This device is not only used to secure your GPS units in place, it also serves as a shock absorber, which is essential in ensuring the accurate functioning of your GPS unit.

Of the many mounting kits out there, features like suction cups, cushioned pads and support hardware are commonly seen in every mounting accessory. All of which are designed to protect the unit from scratch, motion and other forms of elements that may interfere with its navigation operations.

The different applications of Garmin GPS mounts explain its variety of designs. For car or boat dashboards, the ball and socket GPS mounts are one of the most common mounting accessories. It takes the patented rubber ball and socket design, fitted to protect the GPS unit from damage due to mild and intense vibrations and motions. This mounting kit can be interchanged into a base and cradle mount, depending on the design specifications.

Windshield console mount is one space-saving Garmin GPS mount device. As the name implies, this mounting kit uses a suction base to be installed right against the windshield of your car.

Another design of Garmin GPS mounts is the friction mount. It relieves the use of screws and bolts. Instead, it uses anti-skid materials on its base to dampen movement and secure the GPS in place more effectively. Essentially, it is a bean bag that has a grip lining at the bottom, making it easy to put on the dash.

While it is easy to be secured in place, it can also be removed from the dash to keep it from the heat of the sun penetrating the windshield. This is another advantage it has over windshield mounts; its rubber components are kept from melting. It presents a perfect alternative to windshield mounts, which are prohibited to California and Minnesota drivers.

The ingenuity of Garmin GPS mounts design adds yet another mounting kit; the visor mounts. These GPS mounts are designed to be attached to your car's visor, recommended to be installed on the far left of the passenger side sun visor. It's mounting location makes your GPS easy to store and easy to hide from thieves, which lessens your chances of experiencing car break-ins.

Now for motorcycle or bicycle mounts, the classic kits are designed for installation right on the handlebars. Yokes, springs, clamps and rubbers are the common components of these mounting kits, which all aim to dampen the intense vibration suffered by the device while your bike is in motion.

When choosing Garmin GPS mounts, you need to consider several factors. One, it must be designed for your vehicle. There are kits that are made to fit car dashboards, boats and motorcycle handles. You need to make sure that the mount attaches to the device and to the mounting location securely. You need to make sure that it will not shake or get loose while your vehicle is in motion.

Remember, GPS mounts are meant to secure, not to simply make your GPS units visible.
