Entertaining My Kids
With a Car GPS

Have you ever experienced having a long drive with your kids aboard? Surely, you have lost count of how many times they have asked, "Are we there yet?" during the entire trip.

Long trips are never ideal for kids. Entertaining them may go beyond family singing, story-telling, chatting, road games and any other activities. They will soon be asking how much more they need to bear to get to your destination.

Thankfully, your car GPS can come to your rescue. In addition to its navigation applications, it may also be connected to your car's multi-media devices, which can keep your kids' attention. Entertaining kids was never an easy job, especially when you are behind the wheel. Thanks to the entertainment features of your dedicated GPS, you have your problems covered.

Have you tried experimenting with the multi-media devices of your car? Certainly, you have your car stereo system. Understanding the wires and connection ports of your car's audio system must be included in your preparations for your big family trip.

The car GPS that is mounted at the dash panel of your car may have mp3 features, allowing it to store your music selections. In this light, you need to connect your device to your audio system ports so it is ready to play your selection while on the trip.

Some systems may even accommodate image files of your last family trip. If your car happens to have a small DVD screen, connect your GPS device to the ports of the display screen. Many have successfully done experiments on the entertainment features of their GPS, mostly parents.

Talk about a total road trip entertainment system, your dedicated system has got you covered. Once your kid starts his "are we there yet?" routine, start finding your GPS mp3 playlist. Hit the play button and prepare for a relaxing drive with fully relaxed, cheerful and hopefully sleepy children aboard.

Before your playlist is finished, your kids may either be asleep of still singing their last tunes. Either way, that is one way of keeping them from being bored while on the road.

Another entertainment option for road trips with kids are the display sequences, which may be done with a portable car DVD screen. Plugging in your car GPS to the device before you hit the road would be nice. This way, you get to only hit the buttons to start your slide-show of family photo album.

As your children and other passengers marvel from one picture to another, they get to remember their stories and start chatting about last year's family adventures. Before the slide-show is done, these kids will manage to have something to think about like what tricks and games to do once they have landed on location.

If music and slide-show entertainment did not last as long as you had hoped for, then it's time to improvise. Connecting your car GPS to a car DVD screen allows your kids to take a peek at whatever you may be looking at in your GPS screen. Bringing 7 inches of pure joy for the little ones at the back is easier when you display maps and route displays on the DVD screen.

Put on the device's navigation voice to keep them amazed at what the device can do. And while you are at it, you may try explaining how GPS works as well as its role in the safety of your family road trips.
